I know this is an age old question. Can you clarify if the beneficiary/owner of a payee account can call and get the balance or request statements? I've read other threads that go back and forth and all make perfect sense. Is there a correct answer or just use our own judgement case by case?

Although the SSA prohibits the beneficiary from having transactional authority on the Rep Payee account, this does not extend to requesting and receiving information directly from the bank.
