We have recently started to monitor outgoing e-mails for encryption, and I am getting some push back from the lending staff regarding e-mailing pre qualification letters to consumers. I feel that they should be encrypted, and they feel like they should not. The letter shows name, amount they are prequalified for, the sale price, the loan amount, the term and the rate. I don't feel like this is public information, and in order to pre qualify someone then you had to have enough information to make a determination that they were qualified therefore, the information would be protected. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.

Most banks make sure that any e-mail that contains an attachment of any kind is encrypted.
