I have heard that the State is planning on reducing the unclaimed property (escheatment) time down to three years. I checked the state Unclaimed Property site, but don't see any mention of it. Does anyone have more info?

Washington State Department of Revenue July 2003 Supplement Issue (newsletter) mentions on page 3 - "Holding time for unclaimed property - Engrossed House Bill (EHB) 2269 (Chapter 13, Laws of 2003, 1st Special Session) changes the timeframe beyond which unclaimed property is considered abandoned from five years to three years. Effective January 1, 2004."
