I am a branch officer and am wanting to know more about how checkcard authorizations work. How do banks give the authorizations that reflect on customer's accounts. Is our bank approving of requests for $$ or how integral is VISA in the authorizations. When a merchant requests and authorization and it reflects on the customer's account, then the customer goes to the merchant disputing the validity of the authorization and the merchant agrees, but the authorization doesnt "fall-off" the account. What are the innerworkings that branch level employees and customers cant see.

Hope this makes sense.

If there is another thread you can direct me to that would be great.

thanks
