We're not even considering it at this point.

Wired Mag. says it is a bust. That was 2 years ago and it isn't demanded much more today. Security, compatibility, necessity, it just isn't there. Here is a newer article saying the same thing.

I think there may be a niche market, but it isn't widespread.

Banks may not be. But, intermediary peer-to-peer payment processors (I don't know if this is the proper definition) like PayPal are. See case study on PayPal: http://fox.rollins.edu/~slackman/PayPal.htm
