We are trying toget more customers to sign up on our internet banking, so we have thought about putting a computer in the bank lobby with access ONLY to our bank website, so that customers could come in and browse the site and even sign up. Is anyone doing this? Or does anyone know how to restict access to only this site? We don't want people coming in and checking their email..

We did that exact thing, but I don't know how. All I can tell you is there is a way to do it. We outsource our computer tech support and they did it for us. Sorry I don't know more!

We have computer cafes in all of our branches and encourage oour customers to use the computers for any purpose. Obviously the "home" page is our Web site. We also provide coffee and pastries.

Your webmaster or IT group should be able to do this. Worse comes to worse, you put a parental control program on it and limit the websites it can go to, to just yours.

What you refer to is a common method to demo the use of your site and often to show customers internet banking.

Please put controls in place. At my previous employer we had a branch in a grocery store with a stand alone computer to help customers review their accounts. There were no firewalls in place and employees from the grocery store were reviewing porn during the wee hours of the morning. I came across this during an audit when I checked the history to see what people were viewing. The computer was removed the next day.

We currently have web "kiosks" set up in all of our lobbies (small community bank, we have four out there). Our server environment is Windows 2003 and all of our workstations run XP. Right now, users are only allowed to browse to our internet banking site, register, login, and look at the product. In addition, they can't even exit the browser, so they're locked down VERY tight.

All of this is governed by user policies that are set when you create the user login. We have an "internet banking" profile that is used to login to our server environment and that is where you would set all of the rules to prevent people form accessing other sites or your internal network.

No, they are separate. BTW, we do not allow access to porn sites and restrict access to certain other sites as well.
