We're reviewing legal documentation for new accounts and discover we only have part of a Trust document - and not the Certificate of Trust Existence. Are we prohibited from asking for an entire Trust document because of any statute on the books? Not that we care who gets what property, but we do care who the Successor Trustee may be and if the Trustees can act independently - or have to act together.

An attorney claimed we could only request the CTE and not the entire Trust.

From what I gather, Michigan's state statutes would only offer protection to you for relying on a certificate of trust when dealing with real property (i.e. real estate) and not for personal property (i.e. bank accounts, etc), so you should still be able to request the relevant pages of the underlying trust instrument to validate successor trustees, etc.
