With the change in most dormancy periods, would an item (such as a money order) be subject to the longer period until October 2010 and then any issued after that date be subject to the 3 years? Or would all be subject to the new 3 year dormancy period regardless of issuance date?

When reviewing the 2nd section (Changes to Dormancy Periods) in the What's New section of the revised State of Michigan Unclaimed Property Manual, you will see that statement - "Unclaimed property reaching the new dormancy periods as of March 31 must be reported .....

I read this to mean that all property regardless of issuance date is governed under the new dormancy period.
