One of our lockbox owners passed away and the other one lives in Iowa. The owner of the box was POD on a checking account and one of our employees had her email the death certificate and she sent her a check to close the account. Before closing the account, our employee debited the cost of drilling the box because the remaining owner said she doesn’t have a key and she thinks the box is empty. Our problem is that we cannot close the box or drill it without an owner and the locksmith. Is there any way the owner can make our employee a temporary POA to have this done and get this box closed? There is no one local that can be made POA and take care of this.
