Regulator asked for our Military POA policy and procedure today.

Does anyone have this? I have never heard of a specific policy for a military poa.

Here for the moment
This is news to me... keep me posted what you find out. Who is your regulator? We have special considerations for military POAs, but not a separate policy. We are just extremely careful, review active duty status, have legal review... I hope I didn't miss something!

I think that some regulator-types (read: examiners) think that "policies and procedures" is one word or one concept. I doubt that most banks have a "policy" on acceptance of powers of attorney in general, let alone military POAs. It's really more of a procedural thing, I think.

Asking is one thing, recommending is another and requiring is yet another. Were they asking in passing, or did they see a need?

I worked at a military bank many years, every soldier who deploys is recommended to have a POA, but we didn't have a special process to handle them. They were POAs.

One thing that stateside banks need to be aware of is the potential they can receive a POA that is not subscribed before a notary public.

They were going down a checklist asking for a list of items and that happened to be one. We just gave them our POA procedures which inlcude a statement that basically states the soldier does not have to have a state compliant POA.
Have not heard back from them yet. Asked for a reference in the regulation to show exactly what we were required to keep but have not received anything yet.
