We're having a HMDA training session next week to go over the new requirements. Anybody know a good HMDA joke/story I could tell before we begin the actual training?

I thought HMDA as a whole was a joke.

That's a tough order. Most people find nothing funny about HMDA.

I think HMDA stands for Huge Mess, Daily Aggravation!

According to the "acronym finder" it really has nothing whatsoever to do with mortgages: HMDA -High Mobility DGM Assemblage...

I repeat this to myself constantly

HMDA...HATE...MISERY...DISPAIR....AGONY

This is not really a joke...more like a statement of fact.

You could always change to CRA! I wrote a Community Reinvestment Act Policy once and put the first letters of each of the 4 words in parenthesis centered under the title. My Board had a good laugh out of it. The OTS examiner asked me to remove it a few months later.

There's the classic....

HMDA - the regulation that makes you say -
Huh...mmmm.....duh!

And so this HMDA walks into a bar....

Maybe you would work some Honeymooners into it, you know, when Ralph says "hmmmeddda hummmeda hummmeda!"

Not a joke, but true...

Years ago, I had a regional mananger that would identify (mark) the loan file as HUMDA, not HMDA. So we got all these files marked as HUMDA, writen in big letters on the file jacket, and the examiner shakes their head thinking these bankers can't even spell HMDA right - no way are they going to 'get it right!

You guessed it, we didn't.
