Boomermom, O Come All Ye Faithful is the English translation of the Latin carol Adeste Fidelis. Slumber in ethereal quiet is literally "Sleep in heavenly peace." The English is, once again, a translation. The original words ( schlaf in himmlischer ruh ) are from the German Carol Stille Nacht, which we call Silent Night. After a while, I got tired of listing the songs and just translated the words into the familiar vernacular. Based on Deena's help, I would like to protest number 13. Silver isn't tin (of course, I couldn't figure out what tintinnabulums were, anyway ). Number 34 bugged me all the way home. About 2/3s of the way home, I finally figured out where it came from. I still haven never heard of #29. I guess I'm just a scrooge. Until I saw Deena'a answer to #30, I would never have thought of "giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up, let's go." It's only 8:30, and I already need some Christmas spirits. It's off to Cleabatsu's for me!

Paul, as you can see by the time of my editing, I also spent a good part of my ride home thinking about this and finally figured out a couple more. Our radio stations have been playing Christmas music 24/7 since BEFORE Thanksgiving, so I think I've heard every song and every version of every song at least a thousand times. You'd think I could have answered these a little quicker, wouldn't you?

Don't get misled. Some of these are the title lines of the Christmas carol they relate to, but some are just lines from somewhere in the song.
For example, #29 is a translation of "with a corncob pipe and a button nose" and it's from "Frosty, the Snowman".

Ooops, I just realized there are two #29's and you were referring to the second one.
