OK, so over the holidays the June Bug, aka the Roly Poly Bug, taught herself to scootch around backwards. Thank goodness for hardwood floors & a cleaning lady, as it kept her amused for several hours yesterday. But now what shall she be called? And looking ahead (not that far ahead, either) once she is crawling and walking, she won't be a Roly Poly Bug any more. Suggestions??

A Grant Wood painting.

Keep the bug! She will always be "cute as a bug's ear" to you. Provided she does not develop a case of "Marty Feldman eyes" , it is not likely to be a social problem. I like it.

I'm with Omega on this one, the June Bug will always have a special meaning, no matter how old she gets!

You could graduate to "scooter" bug!
I do like scooter-bug. And when the bug learns to swim...water-bug. Watch "A Bug's Life" and you might get even more ideas.

You said on another post that the Bug was picking things up like a sponge, so you could use "Sponge Bug" or even "Sponge Bug Squarepants".
LMAO! I love it Ted!

LOL!! But don't you think SpongeBug is a little .... masculine?? And she is decidedly a girly girl. Like Scooter and Water Bug. (Must sign her up for baby swim classes ASAP.)
thx for the suggestions, all!!

(Except that JCrump's little girl is a lady bug so that's HER theme.....)
Actually, we have a winner for the current phase - the Bug is, at the moment, the Hootchie Scootchie Bug. (That should make Mr. Clean laugh, too.)
Still accepting applications for when she starts toddling along. Thanks for all the helpful thoughts, y'all!!

I have a bug, too - Amy Bug. But when she gets really clingy I just call her a tick!

My 9 year old daughter's name is Skyler and we have always called her Sky-Bug. (Although my husband (her step-dad) calls her Lou-Lou for some reason.) I guess bug is a popular nickname.

Our girls are "Boo" and "Squeaker." Always have been and always will be. So, like Dawnie, I wouldn't encourage you to rechristen your little one. However, after a while, you will need to be discrete in terms of where you use such handles. The first time I heard my wife's grandmother refer to her as "My little ju-ju bean" my wife was in her 20's and I was a bit taken aback.
