Cable Internet access or SBC Yahoo DSL? I know cable is quicker (I have it now), but DSL is much less expencive. How much speed will I really lose?

It really depends more on how much speed you use. Plus DSL is not shared, cable is. So if few people in your area are on cable it is not a big deal, but if everyone in your apartment complex (for example) uses it, you might see some speed fluctuations.

I game online with DSL (128up/768down) with no problems, and any big downloads I do while I am off doing chores etc.

We do DSL and my DH is a big gamer as well.
