AP The October issue of Seventeen magazine is too racy for the Albertsons' supermarket chain. The magazine have been pulled because of an article titled "[censored] 101." Close-up drawings detail various parts of the female anatomy, under the headline "Owner's Manual." The Idaho-based Albertsons' corporate office issued a statement saying the magazine was pulled because of complaints from customers. But there's plenty of racy stuff still on the Albertsons' magazine rack, including Men's Health, with an article called "Six Secret Ways to Turn Her On." _____ I report, you decide!

I'm not sure what here is inappropriate. The word replaced by [censored] is the common name for a normal part of the female body. Nothing derisive or slang is used either in this thread (so far) or the article the thread links to. I must admit I'm confused.

Is there an abnormal part of the female body that would be inappropriate to discuss?
Would it be appropriate if we started naming and discussing the different parts of this part of the female anatomy or the different parts of a man's naughty bits (as Monty Python used to call them)?
I think it is inappropriate for this forum. That is not to say that the term is not scientific, but having the discussion in this forum is inappropriate.

I just want to know, what's so inappropriate? Things as laid out here, and in the linked article, are done so in good taste. Neither goes into the details of the offending article. The magazine material being discussed may very well be quite inappropriate for viewing by its intended audience, however I pesonally figure that adults can handle it. Especially given that most have had a bit of, ahh, experience with the matter.

I honestly don't think that the material is inappropriate for the intended audience, after all, I was learning about the male and female anatomy in health class when I was in 6th grade.
The problem is that you have the word [censored] in big bold letters on the cover of a magazine that is clearly visible to individuals who do not think such a word should be loudly advertised in public (for whatever reason). They complain to individuals in the store and the squeaky wheels get the grease.
I certainly don't blame the store for taking the magazines off the shelves, after all, at the end of the day, it's less expensive to retain whiny customers (especially repeat customers) than it is to find new customers, so, the store is simply protecting it's profits.
In addition, is it really appropriate to rely on a teen magazine, whose sole existence is to foist marketing on its readers, to provide accurate and empowering information about a vitally important part of a woman's body?
