It seems the scam factory in Nigeria has decided to invade myspace and take advantage of good hearted people there. No longer are random emails enough, they have now hired people to seek out single men on myspace who are flagged as looking for relationships and dating, contact them, and beg for help getting out of Nigeria. Apparently their entire family died and the hotel will not give them their passport from the safe until they pay their bills. Can you help them?

Fortunately, they have not been very smart about this so far, since in one day I received six emails from different profiles with the same story, different pictures, and different profile names, but the same email address sent in the message to contact them.

This should get interesting!

i got an e-mail the other day sayign that this guy is dying and he wasn't generous enough during his time here on earth and that he would like to make up for it by giving me alot of money. i wrote him back and asked if he could take some of that money and get the original lynyrd skynyrd back together for me. he said that he was working on it last time i heard from him. apparently, he doesn't know that ronnie van zant is dead.

I just responded that I'd rather spend that money on a Russian mail order bride. After all, at least then I'm being honest about it!

Besides, I'm not THAT foolish!

Why not? They have hit every other place! I even received a 419 letter yesterday saying my name was obtained from a member of a military association I belong to who is currently living in Nigeria. Homey don't play this game!

Ok, in Idaho, the primary crop is potatoes, right?

In Iowa, it's corn, right?

Soy in Illinois?

Fraud in Nigeria!

I wonder if they have to pay taxes on the money they fleece people out of?

Well frankly, no. I use myspace mainly to find new and unique musicians. The fact is, the place has tons of no name bands/individuals who are trying to get publicity and could be great.

In the last month I have found Adrina Thorpe (the next Sarah McLachlan style sensation), a Christian band called "Flyleaf" who has a powerfully rocking sound, Brian Meese, a local Christian artist here in Cincinnati that I hadn't heard, Tommy Faulk, a New Orleans acoustic sensation, and several others. It's a great place to look for interesting music.

More like Gosh officer, she's a 15 year old runaway. I've taken her to the shelter, and I think someone needs to tell her family where she is.

Nice try at a dig though unhappy.

BF, you're definitely right about the music.
I'm more into the heavy metal but i've found some cool bands as well as having established bands on my friend lists. with the established bands, you get to hear new music before the cds come out because they're never played on the radio.
you sign up for the bulletin and hear about tours, news, whatever. i like it alot.
i initially went on for my brother and to be able to talk to him while he's in iraq.

myspace is an addiction!! ha ha.

I see. Frankly, I don't find accusations of statutory rape something to joke about.

well, you must be reading more in to this than I typed, I see no accusations at all. Tsk Tsk, someone must have a mind in the gutter.
