Just like my rival yesterday, people are in a fury over comments made by known agitator Bill Maher, in regards to the "attack" (and I use quotations b/c the OFFICIAL White House stance is that the Vice President WAS NOTtargeted) by the Taliban last week. The NY Post comments: MAHER FUDGES VP DEATH WISH Bill Maher responds: What I Didn't Say This is getting ridiculous. I am sick and tired of people here and elsewhere putting words in people's mouths. Maher never said he was sorry Cheney didn't die, nor did I. This hypocrites are quick to crucify Bill Maher for a 2nd time, but where is the uproar over Ann Coulter's use of the "F" word to describe Fmr. Senator Edwards?

Maher replied: "But I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn't be dying needlessly tomorrow . . . I'm just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That's a fact." So, he's suggesting that Dick Cheney is the sole reason we are in Iraq in the first place and continue to be there?? His comment that Cheney's death would result in fewer American's killed in combat certainly suggests that is his line of reasoning. Maher continues to show what a silly little man he really is and always has been with, yet another, inflammatory comment.

Your own words are that you do not bother with consevative media or talk and debate shows. If you had, then you'd know that Mark Levin disapproved of Coulter's remarks and Jerry Agar practically tore her a new one. Where was the same outrage when John Kerry compared U.S. Marines to Saddam Hussein's thugs, and Dick Derbin called them Nazis? The left can disparage whoever they want whenever they want, but if someone on the right levies a criticsm, look out, let's raise [censored]. As inappropriate as Coulter's remarks were (and just look at my thread a few weeks ago titled "A Conservative Whi is Sick of Coulter)how about former Senator John Edward's two team members who are anti-Catholic and spewed their anti-Catholic vitriol? I see Edwards doing a whole lot about that.

Fella...the Bloggers have since left the Edwards camp...
And Durbin was not calling the US Marines Nazis...he said the use of torture was more suited in a Nazi like regime...
And when did John Kerry compare our Marines to Saddam's thugs? When commenting on the AbuGharib scandal.

Which was odd since the 'anti-Catholic vitriol' consisted of the following statement by Melissa McEwan, "'some of Christianity's most prominent leaders - including the Pope - regularly speak out against gay tolerance'"

I don't need telepathic powers. It was Maher's direct quote which I put in bold print that clearly indicates his line of reasoning. He didn't say "If the current administration was not in power we wouldn't be there so no further deaths". He specifically said if Cheney was dead there would be fewer deaths. Seems pretty clear to me. But, Neo, you're always welcome to disagree!

I am unfamiliar with the comment...if I could see them...I'll be able to formulate a response.
But, even the mention of Abu Ghraib brings feelings of disgust, shame, and heartache.
We are Americans...we are better then that... I need to research this, but was the Abu Ghraib situation really that bad? Honest question as I really don't know.

We are Americans...we are better then that... That's right, and in being better than that, those soldiers were prosecuted for their crimes, something never done to Saddam's henchmen after commiting acts of torture for the Arabic world to witness. And in spite of the whole world seeing, including the Arabic world, that those soldiers were brought to justice, they have to hear John Kerry on Face the Nation in December '05 make his infamous quote "Our U.S. Soldiers are terrorizing wowmen and children in the dark of the night in their homes." Just what the Arabic world needed to hear when they were seeing the culprit soldiers being prosecuted.

Fella...the question is though...ARE our U.S. Soliders terrorizing women and children in the dark of night in their homes.... No Neo, that is not the question. The question is why the left even raises such an absurd question, but seemed to never have a problem with executing men and women at gunpoint, clubbing political prisoners to death, utilizing torture chambers for Saddam's opposition, gassing villages to death. No one on the left seems to be bothered by that, but they's accuse U.S. Soldiers of "terrorizing women and children."

Which was odd since the 'anti-Catholic vitriol' consisted of the following statement by Melissa McEwan, "'some of Christianity's most prominent leaders - including the Pope - regularly speak out against gay tolerance'" Really Barbarian, then what do you call this: “Writing on the Pandagon blogsite, December 26, 2006, Amanda Marcotte wrote that ‘the Catholic church is not about to let something like compassion for girls get in the way of using the state as an instrument to force women to bear more tithing Catholics.’ On October 9, 2006, she said that ‘the Pope’s gotta tell women who give birth to stillborns that their babies are cast into Satan’s maw.’ On the same day she wrote that ‘it’s going to be bad PR for the church, so you can sort of see why the Pope is dragging ass.’ And on June 14, 2006, she offered the following Q&A: ‘What if Mary had taken Plan B after the Lord filled her with his hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit,’ to which she replied, ‘You’d have to justify your misogyny with another ancient mythology.’ “On November 21, 2006, Melissa McEwan said on AlterNet that ‘some of Christianity’s most prominent leaders—including the Pope—regularly speak out against gay tolerance.’ On November 1, 2006, on her blogspot Shakespeare’s Sister, she referred to President Bush’s ‘wingnut Christofascist base’ when lashing out against religious conservatives. On February 21, 2006, she attacked religious conservatives again, this time saying, ‘What don’t you lousy motherf---ers understand about keeping your noses out of our britches, our beds, and our families?’ Currently, the very first entry under ‘Greatest Hits’ on her website [where she brags about being appointed to Edwards’ campaign] is titled, ‘On C---s’. In her article she boasts that she is the ‘Queen C--- of F--k Mountain.’

Fella...if Kerry is making a TRUE statement...what is the problem?
As far as the Saddam regime's acts of violence...point the finger towards the people in power when it was occuring...aka the Reagan Administration... No Neo, I point the fingers at those who carried out the acts, Saddam's regime, and I point at those who to this very day are unphased by it, the Jane Fondas, Susan Sarandons, Barbara Boxers and Diane Feinsteins of the world. And the problem is, correctly stated, that Kerry's remarks were not true, and that is an example of the reasons that the Sean Hannity's of the world exist

Fella...how do you know it is not true? Were you in Iraq? War is [censored] and [censored] happens...look at the Thanh Phong Massacre in Vietnam...And where were Kerry remark's proven or refuted? You quoting them, but give me a hyperlink where I can read them...
And the I don't think that you can make a blanket statement that the names you mentioned are unphased by it...but the problem is...when it happened 20some years ago...the President of the United States was sending envoys, who would later become Secretary of Defense (again), to meet and shake hands with Saddam.
You can't just blame the left. Neo, we know that soldiers were and continue to go house to house to hunt down insurgents. We know that a specific group of marines lost it and killed family members, and are going to trial for it. Its that Kerry makes blanket statements accusing all sodiers of the same thing, and that is unfair and demoralizing. You would thinkt he guy would get it, having served int he armed forces. See if Duncan Hunter or John McCain, who also served in war, would ever make such statements. That is why we on the right are the way we are. As for holding those people responsible, until I see the Sean Penn's and Tmothoy Robbins of the world cut the [censored] and start considering all sides to an issue, I will hold them responsible for their positions.
