What a relief -- I wasn't ready to raise another child.

Both the AOL and CNN websites are stating Larry Birkhead as the father. Funny - his father lives in Louisville, KY and used to be a customer of mine.

Why didn't they take my DNA? I offered.

I always thought Birkhead seemed the lesser of the three evils . . . dimwits . . . whatever adjective you want to fill in there. There obviously was a good reason Anna and Howard never wanted a paternity test. Maybe the child will have a chance now.

Anna's ex - the blondie. He claimed all along that the baby was his, even when Anna was alive.

so does he actually want custody? is he normal aside from the fact he slept with anna? that's cool...hopefully baby will grow up ok :-)

Custody = Cash....of course he wants the kid.

He11, I would even consider taking the kid for a bit if I got to control the cash.

Of course, the kid would be kenneled and I would swing by to throw food at it once and while and then run.

He wanted the paternity way before Anna died. Cash? what cash? Howard is the Executor of Anna's estate-who knows what if any cash is available.

Marshall's cash, once that estate it is all settled, which could still be years away.

Howard being the executor of the estate has no bearing on if he will be the trustee of the baby's assets.

Why is it that he'll get custody? Howard is named on the birth certificate. I'm surprised Howard has said he'll hand the baby over without a custody battle. Unless, he figures that because he controls the purse strings the baby will end up back on his doorstep lickitysplit.

Poor kid. She looses her mother and now the only other constant person in her life. I don't like yoyoing a baby around like that. Money doesn't buy happiness.

Lot sof people over the years have listed a name on the birth certificate full well knowing that was not the true parent.

I realize that he's not the biological father but doesn't naming him on the birth certificate make him the LEGAL father, just like for an adoption or a sperm donor?

I'm sure that Birkhead will be fighting for custody and I imagine he has a good chance of winning. Anna and Howard deliberately kept that child from her real father. If they were sure Howard was the father, they would have done a paternity test immediately after she was born to get Birkhead off their backs. They didn't. I agree that kids should not be yo-yo'd around, but if it is going to be done, it should be done now. The older she gets, the harder it will be for her. But I imagine there will be a long, drawn out custody battle now, so who knows who will have custody and when. It is really sad to me because they should all be thinking about the welfare of the child now.

Well I heard a couple of weeks ago that Birkhead went thru all sorts of parenting classes to prepare to take the little girl including CPR. Sounds like he really wants to prove to the courts that he will be a responsible adult in her life. I certainly hope that "vergie" the grand mom doesn't get custody. it sounds like she majorly screwed up with Anna and didn't have any interest in Daniel, but now wants to raise the kid with all the cash. In my opinion it seems like she has appeared after the fact and only for the publicity and case.

Not necessarily. when I adopted my daughter, the man her birth mom named on the birth certificate was NOT her biological father. DFACS didn't ask him to give up parental rights as he had none. They had to find the biological father and get him to sign away his rights. I suppose it could vary from state to state or country to country.

Not in all cases is this true. Just like in this case, it had to be proven who the REAL father was. Being put on the birth certificate is sometimes just a name.
