The ones we have are sponge cake layered with a whipped cream type frosting, then coated with the frosting and rolled in chopped peanuts. But it's sponge cake so you know, low calorie food, haha

Yeah, you can't really just eat one but since they are only around once a year.......it's easy to justify the gluttony.

They sound yummy, but then right now at this point in the day lots of stuff sounds yummy. Just how many "points" do you suppose one would cost me on Weight Watchers? smirk

They are about the size of a deck of cards and a co-worker who understands points says she would guess at least 6 points.

The ones I've had are bite-sized - a cube that's less than an inch on each side, which probably isn't too bad. Unfortunately they're like those potato chips and you can't eat just one!

TGILent! Can't have 'em. Will probably break the rule to have a piece of hubby's pecan pie cheesecake birthday cake on the 25th tho.

As a couple of you know, sweets are not my downfall. I crave starches (potatoes and bread) and salt. Living with the last Christmas Panetone in the pantry is killing me!

Mine are bigger. I cut my cake 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 and they are made on a sheet cake pan. By the time you add the frosting and peanuts they are about 3 x 3 and at least an inch to inch and a half thick. Frosted 52 of these last night. Got to go get some more peanuts and have 28 more to do tonight.

I have that recipe! It was my mom's, she used to make them all the time. We aren't Irish though so we didn't call them Blarney Stones and I can't for the life of me remember what we did call them. I'll have to check the cookbook when I get home. They are so yummy!
