Hey all! I survived a tornado outbreak! 62 tornados in NC on Saturday! eek

One very big one missed us by 6 miles. Another big one missed us by 9 miles on the other side. We were hiding in the bathroom, with my daughter in the bathtub (going "This is boring... I want a snack... Can I get out now?") and checking reports on my iPhone. Constant reports of more tornado sightings - we were in that bathroom for about 40 minutes. My zip code got no damage - just debris in the yard from other people's homes. frown

Craziness. My co-worker showed me some pictures this morning of her neighborhood. The big tornado hit her neighborhood but it missed her house by about 10 houses! shocked She doesn't have major damage, just some downed trees and power lines. And no power for at least another day.

This is insane. Most of us are in a daze today, as we have lots of people at our bank who live in the areas that were affected and branches all over the South...

Nobody expected the storms on Saturday to be as bad as they were. I feel beyond lucky that we were spared...

Was just wondering if you and your family were spared. So glad you're okay & you still have a home. I'm tired of these scary storms.. was our 3rd in two weeks. Luckily no tornados this go-round. We just had lots of rain, wind, and hail.

raitchjay was narrowly missed in Oklahoma, too. Sounds like there were several lucky BOLers.

Glad that they missed you Aggs and RaitchJ was safe in OK. Can't imagine how scarey that must have been. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected by the storms.

Half of a town in Iowa, not too far from where I grew up, was wiped out last week. In Oklahoma, we're supposed to just expect tornado outbreaks, but it sure seems that the rest of the country (north and east of here) are getting it pretty bad while we are dealing with wildfires instead.

I hope all remain safe during this season.

It is... Nothing like this has happened in this area since 1988. And nothing was this severe in terms of how wide-spread it was and how many tornadoes touched down. Crazy. I think it was 1984 when they got 22 tornadoes here. There were 62 (!!!) on Saturday! shocked

I got to watch one 2 weeks ago come over the hill across the interstate and come right towards our office building! I'm not sure I've ever run so fast! laugh
Luckily, there was minimal damage and no one was hurt.

Glad you're OK Aggs. It seems like more tornadoes are going north and east of Texas this year.....

Somewhere in the middle
The video I saw this morning was pretty scary. Several of the videos showed storms with multiple funnels touching down.

And the photos of the destruction was just breathtaking.

Sweet Home AL
Not sure how many actually touched down Friday in AL, but I heard this morning that 13 people were killed. So sad. We were very fortunate, had some debris, but nothing serious in our neighborhood.
