Eddy has been claimed. A local breeder had a contact and helped find him a home.

DD, we'd have gotten him there....the BOL puppy rescue has yet to be put to the road test, but we've got ample drivers ready to meet and greet....and a few with planes who try to steal all the fun.

My parents have a new red Australian Shephard, (about 1 yrs old), they would have made good playmates.

DD - look to see if there are any Australian Shepherds in Ohio. You might be surprised at what you may find.

(Edited to add) I was in Indiana a couple of weeks ago visiting and went to the local Petsmart. There was an animal rescue group doing an on-site with their dogs and they had 2 Aussies.

I haven't made the trip yet, but the local newspaper has been running stories about our local Humane Society being over run by abandoned dogs and cats. I plan to go there first and try to rescue one or two of those.

Aussies, like other working dogs, are prime suspects for ending up in a rescue or worse. People get them cause they are so pretty/cute/etc and have no idea how active they really are and need room to roam/work/be busy...or be destructive just to burn energy!

Exactly why I said "No" when Mrs (to be) Pup said she wanted him. We simply don't have the time or the space.

DD, sent you a PM. I've got folks around Ohio who can work with you to save a dog on death row, and help get you reduced vet fees and pull fees much of the time! (Mainly the Cincinnati area and east of Cincy in Adams and Brown County.

I've got a REALLY great Bassett Hound/Jack Russell mix that is a love that needs room to run and someone who likes to play with him. He's a great dog. The same rescue has a really wonderful Sheltie mix that loves kids and other animals and people as a whole (despite having been injured due to idiocy and brought in to rescue). Both of them are about 2 years young. (past the annoyingness of the puppy stage and in to the lots of love puppy stage)

I've got another older rat terrier that is a complete and total love doll, very easy going and needs a home because her owner was transfered overseas and couldn't take her with him. She is the star of the household where she's being fostered because of her sweet, loving personality. One of the best dogs I've ever spent time around.

Lots of hound mixes, beagles, needing homes too that would be fun on property!

Aussies make wonderful pets but they do need to work/exercise. They have alot of energy. I hear that in some places they are hard to find. I own one, Patches and she should have been named Tigger because she's so bouncy. There is a lady here that owns 4 that is very informed on Aussies and has lots of contacts.
