Set my appointment for a platelet donation earlier today.
(Takes 2 hours for a double donation of platelets so need to make sure enough time is available)

they used to come to my work place every 8 weeks but when i changed jobs it became more difficult. Now i have to go into the local bloodcenter to donate and do a double red cell donation. You can only donate every 16 weeks and only takes about an hour. Well worth it

I'm not allowed to give. Too much time in mosquito / mad-cow infested locations.

I've been on hiatus at the plasma place for about 6 weeks now due to being put on a forced vacation when testing two subsequent weeks showed protein levels being too high or some such thing. If they'd have told me, I could've laid off the protein drinks and fixed the problem, but whatever. Bunch of jerks! When doing that stuff though, can't give any blood or platelets.

Thanks for the reminder, Happy. When my mom was injured, she received two units of blood which helped to save her life. I have been a quite regular donor for over 20 years, but it's past time for me to call and make an appointment.

With RA I'm no longer allowed to donate. My son is 1 pint short of 3 gallons now and gives every chance he can. He prefers giving a 'double' donation - they take the red blood cells and put the volume back into him. Don't exactly understand how that works. Last time they were unable to do that since his iron was lower than their minimum; although he was allowed to donate a pint. He and I are both O Positive.
Yes, I'm very proud.

I for one greatly appreciate all our donors out there, my husband was in an accident 2 years ago that crushed his pelvis, and tailbone, which had to be rebuilt, and required 17 units of blood,to live, I am very thankful for our donors, or I might not have him with my three boys and me today, God Bless you all.
