One of my favorite actors, and from all descriptions, an all-around good guy.

I enjoyed his acting, always thought he would be a cool grandpa.

He seemed real and likable. RIP, funny man.

His westerns were my favorites and even as he got older, I went to see his movies. One of the best actors and he will be missed.

A good man, a life well lived, married since 1957...scary to think many of these folks are not that older than some of us....

“I said, 'Well, I'll give myself five years to see if I can make a living at it.' And after five years I was 30 and I said, 'Yeah, I can go another five years on just the reputation I have now' and then I went another five, and another five, and another five, and finally -- at 50 years old -- I said 'You know, I think I have a career,' ”- James Garner

I always liked him. RIP.

My daddy used to say 'If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.' Fairly certain he wasn't the first or only one to say that. But he's the one I remember saying it.

Buggs,
Here is your public warning.
Why you are publicly baiting a MOD after having been given many warnings and time-outs is beyond me.

Keep it on topic.

Garner was a good actor. He was in my favorite film, The Great Escape. Seems like he was a good guy. We have fewer and fewer of those these days.

I'd almost forgotten his old Polaroid commercials with Hartley. People used to say if they weren't married, they should have been. They were that good together. Many others will remember The Notebook over Maverick. He had diversity. There was also a movie he did, I think it was Support Your Local Sheriff. It was great too.

I loved him in the "modern" day Maverick with Mel Gibson and
Jodie Foster. May he Rest in Peace.
