Where are you?

Or oil traders for that matter?

Some gold was purchased in about 2001 and 2002 when it was under $300 oz. I suppose I'll hold onto it until it is again under that price and then sell. I'm astute that way.

Having a lifelong interest in coin collecting, most was purchased off of Ebay in the form of pre-World War I gold British sovereigns and half-sovereigns and a few other foreign gold coins having a personal historical interest to me. One could occasionally snag a coin for at, or even a little under melt, but shipping skewered that a bit. Sovereigns were $62-$70 and the little half-sovereigns were $32-$35 for common dates.

Lots of the European nations once issued gold, all similar in size to the British sovereign and containing between 1/5 and 1/4 oz. of gold and these were available for near melt prices, even with early-mid 19th century dates and attractive design features.

Foreign gold is sure to still be there on Ebay, priced just above melt, but I'm not going there at current prices.
