After sitting on the O'Hare tarmac for some 3 hours waiting to take off, I finally arrived home -- very late. Aside from not getting much sleep, I can reflect on the conference as having been well-run, offering some great tips, and it appears it will only grow exponentially.

I did learn a couple of things:

1) Bank Secrecy/AML is now huge. If you have not done
so already, you better tighten each bolt and screw in
your program. The designation of a BSA officer,
daily monitoring, and independent testing (and NOT by
the BSA officer testing him/her self) are key issues,
as is the whole notion of your having an understanding
of just what types of currency transactions in your
enterprise might constitute suspicious activity, and
not be legitimate for that type of customer.

2) You can never bring enough business cards. Bring
more. Otherwise, by the last day you're writing on
napkins and tearing sheets of paper.

Jay: I made a string in the General Forum called "Lessons Learned from the ABA NRCC". I think your post will get more traffic if you copy and paste it there. Thanks for passing on your thoughts.

Between the lines
Agreed, the conference was great and it was wonderful meeting so many new people and catching up with old friends. Update--we did not stop at the distillery on the way home (see another post). We had to come back by way of St. Louis and we followed one of those billboards to a winery for nice little visit and tasting. In fact, there were 3 very close together.

After we got about 5 miles down that little road, there was a sign that said it was another 13 miles!!!! When we came around the curve and saw the place, we were amazed; it looked like something out of California wine country right thre in southern Missouri. Crown Valley Never knew that MO was the second "wine country". After a very entertaining tasting, we bought several selections and headed on home.
