(For those of you who are not aware, North
Dakota and southwestern Montana got hit
with their first blizzard of the season a couple
of weeks ago)Actually early Oct
This text is from county emergency manager
out in the western part of North Dakota state
after the storm.

Amusing...

WEATHER BULLETIN
Up here in the Northern Plains we just recovered
from a Historic event --- may I even say a
"Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with
a historic blizzard of up to 24" inches of snow
and winds to 50 MPH that broke trees in half,
stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow
banks, closed all roads, isolated scores of
communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

George Bush did not come....

FEMA staged nothing....

No one howled for the government...

No one even uttered an expletive on TV...

Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.....

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House....

No news anchors moved in.

No Looting

No Demand for Greyhound Buses to move
our "Sorry Rears" that do live here with us.

No NAACP movers and shakers showed up

No Jesse Jackson and his "hired Picketers".

No Send Money to our "emergency relief Fund
Drive" so we can pay $400,000 director salaries.

We just melted snow for water, sent out caravans
to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars, fired
up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or
Aladdin lamps and put on an extra layer of clothes.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale
has never fallen this early . . . we know it can happen
and how to deal with it ourselves.

Everybody is fine.

Amen to that! I would have no problems helping people who regularly work and support themselves than people who sit on their rears or just work a part time, dead end job and leach off of the rest of the hard working americans in this nation. Does my heart go out to the people displaced from LA? Yes. Am I going to give anymore out of my pocket to people who wouldn't lift a finger to help themselves? No, I'm not. And I do understand that not everyone displaced by the hurricane is in the same situation, but I can't see giving money to people who havn't done a thing to better themselves in their lives.

Now I'm ready for whatever flaming people want to give me, but that is the way I look at the situation.

And rant over.

Actually it isn't. Here is the link to Snopes about this: http://www.snopes.com/katrina/soapbox/dakota.asp

The governor DID ask for federal assistance (they're probably still waiting for FEMA )

No one knows whether this was ever sent since it doesn't identify anyone who might have sent it.
