Well, by now I'm sure everyone has head of the recall of almost 1,000,000 Mattel toys that have a lead based paint, which could be harmful to kiddies if ingested. The head of the company that made these committed suicide this weekend, which is still common practice in China when a business leader is disgraced.

Not to make light of the situation, but if this was a practice in America, I could think of several industries that would have no leadership at all...(we can start with congress and go from there)

They did it because of the bottom line, the lead paint was cheaper.

the really crazy thing here was that the Target stores put the said toys on clearance in an effort to sell them fast so as not to have to recall the inventory...

That is crazy, since then they have to post signs saying "WE SOLD A DANGEROUS PRODUCT" and telling them how to handle the recall if they already purchased the toys...

Yet another reason to come back to manufacturing in the good ole USA! I had to go through the entire list to check all of my daughter's Dora toys. Apparently we got ours early enough since they weren't on the list. Doesn't make me feel too comfortable though!

i am not sure they had any intent of doing that BF. when the news people encountered them on it they hem-hawed about the whole issue...over all the news crew was able to buy 30 or so of the toys from various stores here..

that's probaby what's wrong with me..ingested too much lead in spiderman.

what I dont understand is how can they limit it to a specific timeframe? Most of my daughters toys are Fisher Price or Mattel and the majority of them are made in China. I feel like I have to throw all of her toys away

I heard this morning that there is another round of recalls for Mattel toys coming today or tomorrow- maybe on Hot Wheels. This is again because of the paint.

it was an investigative report of one of our local stations here last week...
