On Saturday my husband and I added a 12 week old sheltie puppy to our family. Yes, we're nuts since we have 3 other dogs, but we've been talking about it for awhile. She is tiny - 5 pounds - and her mother was a very tiny sheltie. I think this little lady will be very small like her mother. She's doing well with our other dogs, but is kind of timid around our greyhound. Of course she's 5 pounds and he's 95 pounds. Go figure!

Way, way south.

My mom has had a couple shelties, as well as a Collie, and they are just great dogs. So well behaved, intelligent and beautiful.
Excellent selection.

That's great Skittles! Good luck with her! Maybe the greyhound can start giving the sheltie rides on the greyhound's back

Maybe, but right now he doesn't want to be bothered. I kept expecting to see one of my dog's faces with a fluffy tail sticking out.

My Mom also has Shelties - she has three. Two of them are certified Therapy Dogs and when she retired five years ago she began taking them into the nursing homes and assisted living facilities a few times a week. The residents there love them and this has become my Mom's passion. She will be training her newest soon.
The dogs are just the sweetest and have the best temperament to be Therapy Dogs!
Enjoy your new pup!

The girls are upstairs <behind a baby gate>, although I took the new one upstairs yesterday for an introduction. I will tell you that they were less than thrilled.
BTW DQ, our new neighbors got two persian kittens on Saturday. Talk about dolls!!

I am not surprised. I can only imagine the look of disdain on my cats' faces if I brought home a dog. Cute @ the Persian kittens!

I may be jinxing myself, but things are going incredibly well with Rafe <Raphael>. Over the weekend she learned to go in and out the dog door. We have totally left her out of her crate the past two days - even at night and when we are at work - and so far she hasn't done anything in the house she wasn't supposed to - not even chewed anything up. Last night she was chomping on our bathmat, but I got her to stop and she didn't go back.
I think we got very lucky when we got this adorable little thing. She's just too cute and full of energy. Monday we start obedience classes. Pretty good for a puppy that's not even 4 months old yet.
