Officials were trying to rescue a 6-year-old boy who climbed into a balloon-like homemade aircraft and floated into the sky over eastern Colorado. The Larimer County Sheriff's Department said the helium balloon had been at the boy's family home in Fort Collins. The boy got into the craft and undid the rope anchoring it. from CNN http://www.cnn.com/

they don't know if the kid is still in it or has fallen out. it's going 25 mph and was, at one point, at 11,000 feet. now it's about 6,500 feet. parents are weather chasers and built it for that. they have no idea how to get it down.  12 miles north of denver.

hope he's ok. I would think most 6 year olds would be smart enough to stay in, but it's been a long time since I had a 6 years old.
I wonder how long it takes for a balloon to come down on its own.

not designed for passengers. designed for about 20 feet.
basket is enclosed. neighbor has no idea how the kid got in.

adams county now. supposed to be around 900 feet now.
bones, they can't see the boy. the basket is enclosed as part of the balloon. looks like a UFO, literally.
