This is a very small town and the pre-schools bring the little kids around to several businesses trick or treating. Today is the day that all of the little kiddies will be here.

I was going to dress as Vicki Lawrence's Mama, but left one important piece of the costume at home by mistake - the sweater - so now I'm dressed as an old lady. Hmmmmmmmmm. I hope I'm dressed MUCH older than I am! blush

So, I need a costume idea that I can throw together for work tomorrow. Keep in mind I hate dressing up for Halloween, and I would prefer to be comfy (jeans?)...any good ideas? Kind of limiting, I know!

Way, way south.
The wife and I went as Raggedy and Ann and Andy.

I made up my own costume with some blue old fogey pants cut off, striped socks, a plaid red and blue shirt, a red yarn wig and some makeup by the wife.

Hers was store bought, but they looked great.

I originally was going to come as a little girl with pigtails, wearing either my Garfield or Odie slippers, footed PJs or long gown with robe, and carrying a big teddy bear. Then I finally decided I'd just be too hot! smile

Our entire branch (about 40 employees) are dressing up as chefs tomorrow to serve up some extra special customer service for our customers.

Ideas for #12,
Devil - red shirt and a pair of devil horns.
Referee - black pants, black & white stiped shirt (could borrow a real ref shirt if you know of one), whistle, white or black cap.

Some things my kids have been in the past that were pretty easy:
Scarecrow - took felt squares (can get at Walmart) and cut them down to about 3" squares and tacked them onto a flannel shirt & jeans to looked patched and then with a tan felt square-rolled it to look like a dunce cap and put a couple of 2" felt squares to look patched on the hat, then with the tan felt, cut strips to attach around the wrists and cut really small strips to look like straw coming out of their sleeves, but really comfy (unlike real straw), and triangle black eyeliner on nose.

Pippi Longstocking - girls had hair long enough to go in high dog ears and then braided them and sprayed them orange. Bent a wire hanger to go over their head and down thru the braids to make them stick out. Then same concept as scarecrow - tacked on felt squares to make shirt & pants look patched, cut pair of pants off (but capris would work too) and wore mismatched funky socks and shoes, brown eyeliner to make freckles on face.

I hear this suggestion often. But I always wonder, if you are a box of cereal that has been stabbed, would you not be the cereal victim? Or did you kill yourself? confused

no Booby...you carry the box of cereal...and the box of cereal you're carrying has a knife in it (and for extra effect...you have blood on your hands)

thus...YOU are the "cereal killer"! grin

Hippie! jeans, t-shirt or chambray shirt with fringed vest, peace symbol necklace, comfy sandals(birkenstocks) or suede fringed boots - flat or moccasins, headband.

There's also the "black-eyed pea" - black out your eye and put a big "P" on your t-shirt to wear with your jeans.

I have seen people dressed as a box of cereal with a knife stuck in and they called themselves a cereal killer. crazy

This has always irritated me to no end. I thought this was what Kitten was saying, but I gotcha now...

Be a cowgirl-- Jeans, plaid shirt, boots, wear two braids and a cowboy hat.

No dressing up for work btu I get to dress up for school. I have an easy witch costume that's cute I put together a few years ago. Cheap witch hat with a wide orange ribbon tied around it in a bog bow with a jack-o-lantern apron. for school, am pairing those with a little black petticoat and a black shirt and either orange fishnets or black and orange striped stockigns and my new boots. Tried ti all on last ngith and it's really cute!
