Skiing, ski jumping, speed skating, bobsledding, the luge, and some figure skating. I'm super excited. Plus, I have a lot to root for - I always cheer on the US, Poland and Sweden since I have ties to all those places. Poland hardly ever gets a medal in the winter Olympics, but when they do, it makes my year!

I like the Olympics but I tend to watch the summer Olympics a lot more. Maybe this year will be different. In the past I haven't put forth the effort...this year I will.

Will do anything i can to NOT watch figure skating. I'd rather watch Blades of Steel.
Will probably watch curling, but will definitely watch snowboarding and ice hockey (hoping that none of the Blackhawks get hurt on their stanley cup winning season)

I watch the Winter Olympics less and less every time they're on. Too much snow and ice. Too much blathering by the commentators. Too little difference between the competitors.

the opening ceremonies of the olympics reminds me of a cirque de soleil show...neat for about 30 seconds then repetitious and boring...
Truff - if you want an olympic bar tomorrow, you're going to have to open it...I already have another bar planned...

Now see, I loved the hockey back in the day...Miracle on Ice and all. I absolutely HATE the olympic hockey and basketball now. Pros do not belong on these teams. I totally agree and I don't watch those sports for that reason. but when they do, it makes my year! Wow...you're easy to please. Why yes, yes I am You have no idea what an Olympic medal means to a small country and what it does for those athletes. (I'm not saying that large countries don't celebrate it or their winning athletes because I know they do.) When a Polish girl won an Olympic gold in swimming in 2004, she was the national hero! And also, most people there don't have much money, so when you become a national sports hero, you get sponsors, advertising deals, etc. Her family was poor, so for her to make that kind of money was a blessing for them. I remember watching that swim race and towards the end I was jumping up and down going "Go! Go, Polish girl, go!!!" and looking like a total fool. LOL

Yes, I knew her name It's Otylia! But I picked up on my husband rooting for her as the "Polish girl" because he couldn't pronounce her name

I'm much bigger on the summer games, but I'm certainly stoked to see some curling, hockey and speed skating! I'm also working on plans so that I don't have to watch figure skating with the wife. That stuff bores me to tears...

Why? You don't want to watch men dance and jump around in skin-tight glittery costumes?! I loved figure skating as a kid but now I don't really care for it anymore. I might watch some of the ice dancing competition, since 2 of the 3 US couples are students at the University of Michigan! GO BLUE!!!

I don't make a dedicated effort to watch the Olympics, anymore, but will probably tune in when I have time. They're happening so close to home this year, I'm almost sorry to feel that it's not worth the expense or effort to see them live.

I love the winter olympics so we will watch lots of it. Hubby is a hockey fan (Pittsburgh Penquins of-course) so I'm sure we'll watch much of that.
