So Cal
I want to share an internet connection between my desktop and laptop at home. There is a number of challenges I have created for myself that makes this even more of a pain.

I switched from regular land line service to Verizon Wireless Home Connect. This canceled my DSL, so now I connect to the internet via Hotspot/Tethering on my Droid. Therefore I no longer have a hard-wired internet connection to my network router. Another issue is that neither the desktop or laptop will allow simultaneous wireless connecton to the Droid and to the network router.

I want to be able to tether my Droid to my laptop and then be able to access that internet connection on my desktop. I can wirelessly connect both PCs to the Droid simultaneously or both PCs to the network simultaneously but not both PCs to both the Droid and to the network at the same time.

Finally to my questions.

If I attach a second USB network adapter to each computer, will this allow one adapter to connect to the network and the other to connect to the Droid simultaneously?

If I use Internet Sharing Connectivity, does the PC that accesses the internet have to be hard-wired to the network router?

Is there a way to tether the Droid to the network router's incoming ethernet port that was previously connected to my DSL modem? The Droid can be tethered via USB cable to a PC for internet access.

You probably need to reconfigure your network to allow your laptop to share the internet connection through your droid. Try using the network setup wizard. There is an option where your laptop is used as the internet connected device and share the internet connection with the networked computers. Your wireless router should provide the link between the computers.

Just hit "Control G". My 8 year old says that fixes anything that can go wrong with a computer.

Update (because I know you're all dying to know):

My next effort is to connect two wi-fi adapters to my desktop and connect one to the network and one to the Droid for internet.

If that doesn't work, I might be able to purchase a 4G "portable" router, although this may present issues as this might not include wired ports to access my printers.

In any event, it looks like the monthly savings on my land line will be eaten up by these work-arounds and true savings might not be realized for quite some time. crazy

I was able to set up my home wireless network with one desktop, one laptop and one printer. I can see that the printer is set up on the laptop but I can't print. I have tried to print from both the primary user and guest screens on the laptop, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

brendaC, when you view the network on the laptop, does the laptop see that the printer is there? Are the printer properties on the laptop set up to know where the printer is (i.e. the correct printer port)?

Ed, I thought of that but I don't need my system optimized for Grand Theft Auto. smirk

Brenda - Had a similar problem. For some reason, our printer decided it wouldn't "do" wireless anymore. My hubby is in IT and he couldn't figure it out. So the printer got a cable and now we can only print from the main computer.

NP, even if the printer won't do wireless anymore, you might be able to get a printer server and connect it to your network router via ethernet.

If you connect the printer to a computer, you can share the printer through your network. In the Control Panel - go to Printers. Right click on the printer, select properties. There should be a Share tab. give it a name, activate the share.

You can then search for the printer on your other pc through the Add Printer option - select Networked printer - search for available printers. It should show the shared printer.
