Is anyone watching this year? Started a week ago and still doing auditions, but I think this show has better talent than any of the other reality shows combined, ie. Idol, America's Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, etc. These dancers are phenomenal!

We are watching it and I agree with you. Seems like this year the talent is so much better than previous years. They really haven't shown much of the "untalented ones" this year either. IMO, Nygel seems to be acting a little more quirkier (sp)/wierder this year too than he normally does.

We are also watching SYTYCD this year. My wife and I have been watching since season one and it is our favorite "reality" show. I can get a little bored at times with some of the dance styles, but the versatility and talent of the dancers on the show are unprecedented in my opinion.

I've been watchign since the beginning too, though I missed most of the past two seasons (wait, scratch that, I saw most of last season where they had the allstars, btu the two before that when I was in beauty school).

My bf thought Nigel was extra weird too, btu I didn't notice. Tomorrow night starts Vegas week... I seriously love thsi show. Watchign these peopel dance makes me really happy. Maybe that's because I used to love dancing competitively when I was a kid, maybe not. Either way, it's great TV.

I think I'll start watching once they get "whittled" down a little bit!

My favorite show!! Love watching all of the dancers grow each week when they get to the top 20.

OF all the reality shows, I think SYTYCD is done well. I did not like the all-stars last year. If they wanted to do that, they should have brought back a full season of our favorites doing it all over again, perhaps in teams. I want to see the new dancers!

Looking forward to seeing if Janine's sister is any good.

Janine's sister got picked for Vegas week. Thought her audition was really good. Glad to have Mary Murphy back--even with her voice, she is much more positive than the other one.

Hey B_F, I didn't liek the all-stars either. I wanted to see a bigger group of new dancers to get to knwo and root for. More variety, more talent. the all-stars had thier spot in the limelight already.

Dip, I'm with you there. Here's what I would love to see them show do. Someone put together a petition to send to Nigel smile

Instead of all stars, during the results shows, to get more people to actually want to watch them, put in a segment each week of "where are they now" for the previous contestants and winners. Have some of them dance each week, and do a bit saying they are whereever, doing whatever! American Idol reminds us when new albums are coming out, that people are on broadway, etc.

I LOVE Twitch. I even like just watching him sit in the audience because he is funny just looking at the camera and sitting there.

You are here
BF: "Dip, I'm with you there."

Dip: "My bf thought Nigel was extra weird too,"

kind of redundant?

Yay for SYTYCD! Although I try not to get attached to people in tryouts or even Vegas because then I just get mad when they don't make Top 20. I am glad to see more 'different' dancers moving through to Vegas at least - the B-Boys / Girls, the African dance sisters, etc. I get tired of all the contemporary, roll around on the floor & look soulful types.

And I'm glad Mary is back on permanent judging status.

I love this show, too. There really are some crazy incredible dancers - my hubby won't watch reality tv in general, but he'll sit through quite a bit of this show (he still has no patience for judging or results shows.)

I'm glad Mary is back, but I'm happy that I watch it with one finger on the mute button to halt the screeching...

Let's get it started, since I and the better half disagreed on this one:
I hope the chunkier African dance sister does not make it into the top 20. She is good, but now that she's been diagnosed as likely diabetic, I hope they tell her to get that condition stabilized, then return next year. With additional training I think she could make a wonderful instructor and choreographer someday.

Overall, I was very impressed by the attention the judges and producers were giving to the dancers' well-being.

Phoenix, I'm with you on hoping the big girl doesn't cry when she doesn't make the top 20. She needs to get her health in order, and lose a few pounds for health reasons. Right now, if they let her in, it would severely limit what she can do, and wouldn't be fair to whoever was forced to partner with her.

I just hope Ryan makes it through this year. I was in her corner last year.

I'm loving the judges except wth is Janice Dickinson doing there? Does she have a dance background? Or is she just looking from a modeling aspect? She's got so many problems what with drugs, etc, she just gives me the creeps.

Truff, is she the pussycat dolls lady? She creeps my bf out grin

As for the sisters, the bigger one isn't a good enough dancer, no matter her weight or health. But I LOVE her sister (Sasha?).

Also, I'm glad Jeneane's sister didn't make it. She's a great dancer but I didn't really get into her dancing...it was borign for me. Though her very last solo was an improvement. Great attitude though...at least she's mature in that area.

As for the black kid that was cryign cuz he didn't want to go home...I thought that was embarassing. Also thought it was sad, considering his gf is pregnant and he'd be gone if he made top 20. He shoudl be there for her and his unborn. Come back in a year or two...

Dip, I think it is the pussycat dolls lady. Her name is Robin Antin. I remember she made a comment on one of the casting shows about wanting to make one of the girls auditioning a pussycat doll. She does look a little like Janice Dickinson (scary!).

Good show last night, moved really fast and would have liked to see other kids spotlighted. They made such a deal about the sisters. But I don't know why they make these kids start late at night, then stay up all night to work on group dance. Seems like it was all about testing stamina rather than their talent. Know they need stamina, but is this really necessary? I found the group dances the least interesting.

Thank goodness it isn't Janice, tho I'm not happy to see Robin because I think it will signify a push to the raunchier side. Hope not.
