"Santa" got my 10 year old a kindle for Christmas. We were looking into the amazon student/prime memebership. was wondering if anyone had it and is it really worth it? He will be using his kindle mostly for reading. Thanks for your input!

OK
I have the regular Prime Membership but have never used it to borrow books. I have so many free ones that I have downloaded that it will take me years to read them! I wanted it for the 2 day shipping and the extra price breaks I get sometimes.

I'm the same as QM.

summergirl, check out www.pixelofink.com. They list lots of free and low priced books every day, and they have a kids' section, too. smile

Sweet caligirl! I will check that out with MiniMe too. She got her Fire replaced by Santa after her last one was stolen (btw, when we registered her new Fire all her old apps and previous books were moved to her new one.)

COOL! I will be checking these sites out for him and myself. I have a Nook. I had no idea there were websites out there that you could get free books!

I don't have the Prime membership but a lot of the not-free books that I want to read say they are free to borrow for Prime members.... smile Before buying it, I'd have them go throught the list of books and see if the books they're interested in are free, cost $$, or are "free to borrow" for Prime members.

And remember, too, all the classic books are free on Amazon. So for those that somehow never got around to their English lit reading list, and want to catch up, you can download Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, et al, to your heart's content. smile

Also, check to see if your library will lend e-books.

A friend here - his 4 year old daughter ordered something on-line using her mom's i-Phone. It was $100 and an add-on to a game - that they don't have. Luckily mom was able to reverse that. Hope she password protected her phone.
