http://9to5mac.com/2015/01/06/apple-watch-launch/"Apple is finishing up work on the Apple Watch’s software, and sources familiar with the product’s development say that the device is currently on track to ship in the United States by the end of March. Apple previously said that the wearable product will ship in “early 2015,”
"The Apple Watch will come in three collections, standard, Sport, and Edition, and several distinct wristband designs will be sold. While Apple has only revealed pricing for the metal and glass sport model ($349), rumors indicate that Apple will price the stainless steel and sapphire crystal standard model around $500, while the gold version will be priced in the thousands of dollars range."Who's going to be the first kid on the BOL block to be sportin' one of these? Probably won't be me. I'm a fogey, as in old. I'm still satisfied with mechanical watches like a '54 vintage Omega being worn at present and it does nothing more than tell the time. Considering the price of gold, what exactly makes the gold version of the Apple Watch worth "thousands of dollars unless it weighs a substantial few ounces?" What a bargain!

I may be a Apple sheep but these "smart" watches seem like a waste of money. They only work if your phone is nearby so why not just use the phone in your pocket? Wait it is America, we are to lazy to reach in our pockets now days. ^_-

The product goes right over my thick head.
Our eldest son loves all things of an "Apple" flavor though. He'll probably have one.

Is this one of those "First World" problems being discussed over in the other thread?

I got the Android equivalent for my son for Christmas. He loves it. One use for it is when driving. In Illinois you can't be on your phone or texting when driving unless it's hands free. He can respond to a text by speaking to the watch. He can also ask the watch for driving directions. I'm sure it does a lot more, but I'm not the guy wearing it, so I don't know.

I'm guessing it was Dick Tracy circa the 1940's.

Is it flexible like the phone? Will other people who have no lives come up to me at parties and talk to me?
Oh, forgot. I've never worn a watch...

I haven't worn a watch in many years, except when running. Then my wife unexpectedly got me a fitbit for Christmas. So now I wear a watch.

I just started the shopping process for a wind up watch last week. I thought they might be hard to find but Amazon has a good listing of them to choose from.
Tick tick tick for me!! ^_^
