Lost in a regulatory fog
A little late, but figured we needed a thread for all our Olympic talk.

We seem to be leading the way in swimming.

First time I've seen the archery. When I first turned it on, I was wondering what they were doing with all that equipment, then the camera panned out and showed how far away the target is shocked

out of the frying pan...
I've used my lunch breaks yesterday and today to hide in the boardroom and watch some of the riding (since so far it has aired on channels I don't get at home).

Well, you dressage junkies set your DVRs for Monday, 10:30-12:30 ET on USA. That's the live coverage of Freestyle (the musical Grand Prix tests).

I was looking forward to watching women's gymnastics on TV tonight, but some of the major news websites have posted the results already! I'm a little disappointed about that since I'll already know what happens when I watch it later. I'll still watch but I think the enthusiasm won't quite be the same. frown

Love watching the gymnastics. The routines, the flips, the twists, the turns - they just amaze me.

gymnastics, swimming, horse's dressing up and prancing...people, please...those aren't sports, they are just entertainment to fill the gap between road and time trial cycling, soccer, and women's beach volleyball...

Congrats to Michael Phelps, but I'm a little tired of the "clap for me, praise me" wave he's been doing after the races. Yes, he is the most decorated Olympian, but is there no humility? Or it just me...?

I find it amazing that in any endeavor where competitors come from all over the world that anyone can be "the best" more than once. Otherwise, it's entertaining even without the drama and personal interest stories that the commentators churn out.

The IOC is reviewing whether or not Phelps should be penalized for bogarting.

Running and riding everywhere ...
I thought his "cheer louder" wave was more for the chants of "USA, USA, USA" than anything else. I didn't see it as cheer for me.

Anywhere I want to be
I've gotten the breaking news alerts spoiling some of the results, so I've enjoyed watching the live events.

The Phelps memes have been pretty funny after the ready room video.

Let's be honest, you and Jen were distracted by the abs and the Speedo and weren't really listening to what the crowd was chanting. smirk

Lilly King, who won gold in the 100m breaststroke, is from my town. The mayor already proclaimed a day in her honor, and is currently working with her family on scheduling a parade. We are all so proud.

I didn't feel that Phelps was asking for people to cheer louder for him but for the USA in general and all that they have accomplished so far.

What an honor! She has probably won many great awards, but to represent your country and win - that is over the top. Make sure you do a lot of yelling!

When I quickly scanned this I read "Larry King" and I thought "What....?"

Never mind.
