I watched "The Shrine" yesterday with a friend and liked it, though it definitely had some let downs (like why is the town cursed? Where'd that statue come from? Why is there not a translation of the Polish?)

Anyone have recommendations for any other good horror movies?

anything with Ben Affleck or Nic Cage

the most horrifying of all would be if both were in the movie

Do you like psychological thrillers or just the horror genre?

Both! I like stuff with a twist, too.

Is that the one with Harr... I mean Daniel Radcliffe? If so, I watched about a half hour to 45 minutes of it once and couldn't get into it. Maybe I should give it another chance!

Even though I know exactly how it ends, I am partial to The Village. It just grabs me for some reason. Maybe because I too would like to run away from it all.

Good one OldTymeBanker - I also liked his movie 'Signs'. Creepy.

Psychological thrillers that I love:

'Hide & Seek' with Robert DeNiro and Elisabeth Shue
'The Skeleton Key' with Kate Hudson
'The Others' with Nicole Kidman

And for some reason I still find the original 'The Fog' very creepy.

One of my favorites. This type of movie is one of my favorite types... "The Shrine" had a similar twist at the end.

Coincidentally, I just watched "The Fog" last night, but I watched the one that came out in 2005. The story line had a lot of potential but they didn't do a great job with it IMO.

Did anyone watch any of the movies in the Grave Encounters series? I've seen the first one and enjoyed it, but would definitely like to see the second one. Apparently the script for the third one is in the works.

Haven't watched the Grave Encounters. Tried to watch 'The Fog' remake but turned it off. Just wasn't the same.

It's worth watching, if you're into paranormal haunting type shows. It's about this group of people who film a haunted house show. It starts with the producer of said show in his film room talking to the camera saying "The first four places were a let down... but this one was just something else..."

I liked The Babadook, and the VHS series were pretty good, too. The ABCs of Death had a smattering of decent episodes.

Halloween. It sure seemed scary as a teenager in 1978!

We couldn't finish Babadook. The screaming kid was just so annoying; although my son and step-daughter both raved about it. Maybe we should try again.

I've got a scary movie night planned with my brother in law tonight and I can't wait to watch one of these (that's on Netflix :))!
