The scariest part about that article is the comment section. I can't believe how many people seemed to think that because it was a small town they should have just been let off with a slap on the wrist or not prosecuted at all.

Totally! It looked like one brave banker tried (or someone I assume was a banker because he/she seemed to have some clue about the subject), but was then slightly skewered. Poor guy. . .

I would only use this in training if the teller suffered consequences for her actions. I know being told to do it by 2 officers put her in an awful position, but she knew it was wrong and proceeded to do it anyway. What my tellers would take away from this story is that as long as someone tells me to do it I am off the hook. I am just starting to win this battle when it comes to CIP between lenders and CSR's, I do want to give the other side an incident to hang their hat on.

You are so right USA Banker !!! I cannot tell you how many times as an auditor that has been my only response to an absolutely assinine action on their part. Staff is not expected, nor does it appear that they choose, to THINK, process information and make an intelligent decision. Oh, and be accountable for that decision either. Scary stuff!

I bet them three will wonder why they didnt just take 10 minutes to fill out a CTR when they are cellmates.
