We have a longtime c-store customer who breached the $1000 cashed check line for a customer several years ago. They filed as an MSB. We have not seen any trace of check cashing to that dollar amount since. Customer did not renew their MSB registration.

So, since we haven't seen any MSB qualifying activity, are they still considered an MSB? I believe they decided the risk wasn't worth it. We still monitor them as a higher risk customer, check casher, NBFI, etc...

As you can see from that article, an MSB leopard can change its spots -- even eradicate them altogether.
