How do you all capture CTR information for non-customers, especially for aggregation purposes?

If you start collecting information at a certain $ threshold, what is the dollar amount?

As you surmised, our teller system allows us to put in a dollar limit at which we start to collect CTR information just in case they later do go over the $10,000 limit.

We use $3,000 as that lower limit.

Thanks Doug,

Does your teller system store the information for a specified time period so that if the person comes back again, you don't have to recollect the information?

Does your system complete the CTR or do you have to do a discrete one off?

The CTR component of our teller system will maintain the person's information indefinitely unless we delete it. So the next time the person comes in, once the teller enters the SSN or name, it will pop-up with all the information we had already collected on them. The teller can then reconfirm the data.

Once the 10,000.01 is reached for a day, it will create a CTR. However, we don't as yet use this to automatically do the filing, since I'd rather have the CTR preparer ensure that we have all the information we need and that it truly is a CTR reportable event.
