A potential customer came to open an account. Upon inspection, the rep noticed he cut the edges off his license. It's a pretty low risk to me, but would you accept it as valid considering it's been physically altered?
Well, your requirement is probably an unexpired government ID. A clipped DL in a lot of States is invalid. So - do you or do you not have a unexpired government ID if the ID is invalid?

I cut my DL to fit my wallet too once -- before I was in banking and didn't know that was a problem. If everything else seemed OK, I would accept it. (But I would also watch the transactions . . . just in case)
lol...probably should get a bigger wallet...I agree with Randy, if your state says altered cards are not valid then you might be running into a problem with your own CIP.

IMO, why add yet another customer in which to perform EDD because of raised risk due to ID accepted. I just wouldn't accept it/open account, we have enough to monitor as it is.
I did check with the state, and while there is nothing in statute that says a person cannot cut their ID, IDs must be fully encased in a "lamination of clear plastic" so his is no longer a valid ID.
