We are switching to a new gift card vendor with a higher card limit ($1,000). We have a daily limit that one customer can purchase in one day and thinking of raising it slightly based on the change. Could I ask your opinion on establishing this limit or if you would share what your daily limit is?

This is purely a business decision based on your assessment of the risk of the product being used as a conduit for laundering illegal funds. There are several risk factors other than just a maximum per day limit. (These are a few off the top of my head).

1. Are sales limited to customers or can non-customers purchase the cards?
2. Do you permit sales in cash which are harder to trace or must funds be deposited into an account first?
3. Are the cards one-time use only or are they reloadable?
4. Can the cards be used at an ATM or can they only be used to make purchases?
5. Are purchasers anonymous or must the cards be registered?

When assessing risk, consider all factors of the product, not just one.
