New customer CIP question. What tools does your institution use to verify the individual's social security number, or entity tax ID number is that of the person or entity opening the account? Are there tools that scrub for deceased social security numbers? We utilize Early Warning for deposit accounts, and use IRS TIN matching. We just had a case of an individual using a deceased relative's SSN so we're looking to enhance procedures. Thanks in advance!

For interest bearing accounts, IRS TIN matching is the only fool proof way. For everything else, any service that you use is just based on information previously reported by third parties to the service that you are using or from some other third party source.

That is about the limit until the SSA gets their eCBSV service fully functional.

IRS TIN Matching only matches to last name though, as I understand it?

That is still the best you can get right now until the SSA system is fully functional. Anything else you use may or may not be reliable.
