I came across this the other day and am wondering if we need new maps and where exactly can you get maps for free?

CRA Assessment Area Map By April 1, 2013 you should have a new AA map based on the Census 2010 tracts in your public file. http://www.ffiec.gov/cra/default.htm

We are a small bank and are not HMDA or CRA reportable so our CRA file is pretty simple and we have had the same maps forever that show our county census tract codes.

Well, there is no requirement to show the census tracts on the map itself. You can have a map of the country and separately list the census tract information.

"A map of each assessment area showing the boundaries of the area and identifying the geographies contained within the area, either on the map or in a separate list;"

If your AA is as simple as one, two or three full counties, could include county maps and then supplement that with the updated tract lists. The tracts do NOT have to be on the map.

Thanks guys! kathleen B, what is AA? We do have whole counties and I have maps that actually show the census tracts on them, but it sounded like we needed new maps?

AA = Assessment Area

AA = assessment area. You need to make sure that your list of tracts (or you map if you have the tracts on the map) has the new tracts from the 2012 census and update your public file by 4/1/2013. Additionally, as of 1/1/2014 there have been changes to MSAs..some new MSAs, some counties added to MSAs, etc.
