I have a bunch of cross-stitching patterns and kits that I would love to sell or donate to.... anyone.

Do any of you know of an organization I can contact who might want them?

THanks. smile

I don't know about an organization- If they are in good condition you could try either a local womens shelter, or goodwill/salvation army.

If not, I'll take them!! smile

I like the women's shelter idea. I could do good will/SA, but I'd like to see them go to a good home, so to speak. I don't want them to just sit on a different shelf.

Altought, if they are out of my house, I guess I shouldn't care, right? smile

What about an agency that works with people with disabilities? Perhaps they could use them in therapy?

Hospital rehab centers or nursing homes have crafts for people to do that are in transitional care units.

I think everyone has given you some really great ideas. I know how much I enjoy doing crafting and it is my form of therapy, so I think any of the ideas above would work!!!

If you have a dialysis center near you, that might be a good option. Patients who have to have dialysis spend many hours a week tied to machines and I am sure that they could make good use of them.

A senior center quickly comes to mind, or maybe donate to a church or youth group for a yard sale type of fund raiser.

The dialysis center sounds like a great idea also. Or even a chemo center.

I also like all the other ideas that you have received regarding helping those seeking medical treatments.

How funny, I did my first cross-stitch last ngiht. It took forever---just doign the word "cancer" took me an hour. Finished project says "Cancer Blows" and has a dandelion on it with seeds blowing away and a pink ribbon around the stem. Hope my BFF likes it.

I liek the Girl Scouts idea smile

My granddaughter goes to a Ukrainian school - they teach them cross-stitching. Are there any Ukrainian schools, organizations near you?

While not as altruistic, there are a number of online stiching boards where members trade/buy/sell patterns, etc. My mom had a stitching magazine from the 70's advertising a kit for a Christmas stocking with a golfing Santa. Company defunct, of course. I stumbled on this board and a lady in Canada had the pattern which she sent to my mom for free! My husband was thrilled with his present that year.
