My husband and I are both signed up for the Swagtastic virtual half-marathon, and I wanted to let you all know about it, in case you might be interested.
It is run by/for a charity called "Medals 4 Mettle," which is usually run as a distribution kind of charity - runners/athletes donate their medals, and they are cleaned up, re-ribboned and given to (mostly pediatric) patients fighting chronic or life-threatening diseases.
It's not a road race in the literal sense, but we have from July 4-9th to accumulate 13.1 miles and post our time on their website, and the medal that we would have gotten will be given to a first-responder from the Boston marathon. The first few hundred people who sign up (I forgot how many, sorry) will be send a "swag-bag" made up of donations.
I signed up through Active.com, but they have a website at swagtasticrace.com if anyone wants to give it a go.
