Today is going to be tough. The home I grew up in will be sold this afternoon. It's been in the family since 1955; however since my mom passed away in March it's been empty. My sister and brother worked to get it ready for the market and had a contract on the day it went on the MLS. While this is a necessity, it's still tough. I was able to go visit a couple of weeks ago.

On a good note - I will be going to my step-daughter's ultrasound today and we'll find out if we're having a grandson or a granddaughter.

Any where but work
So many memories are made and shared in our family homes. It can be bittersweet to pass the torch to a new family; I hope your childhood home is treated with the love and care it deserves moving forward. Congrats on the addition to your family!

It is hard knowing that you will never be able to walk back through the door and know that you're home. It is bittersweet to say goodbye and close the door.

Congratulations on the upcoming bundle of joy.

When my grandparent's farm sold after they passed away, we went and took pictures of the house, barn and corn crib as we knew the buyer intended to tear the buildings down and build a new house. We enlarged the pictures, changed them to black and white and framed them. While I agree the memories are in your head and heart, I love those pictures. They always make me smile as I remember my time there years ago.

Congrats on the grandbaby smile

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
congrats on the granddaughter!

I also took pictures of my grandparents house - outside, inside, before we broke everything down and sold the house. I love that I have those pictures. They bring back such happy memories!

As the one that got the house ready for sale. The help being phone calls on why it is taking so long.

I was glad to see it go.

Especially since it went to a young couple with plans to update and enjoy it.

Sorry and congrats! I would feel the same way. I remember when I was told they'd pulled down my grandparents home. The apartment complex was an old German WWII barracks and my grandparents lived there for many, many decades after the war - well into the 1990's. It was a lovely apartment with 12 foot ceilings and lots of light with a train running behind it. I love the sound of trains to this day.

So understandable! We moved a few times when I was a kid, and I have as an adult too. But, my heart still holds a fondness for most of those places... especially the childhood homes!

Congrats on the granddaughter! I have 2 grandsons... and although I adore them and wouldn't trade them for the world... I would love to buy a little twirly dress once in a while!

Basil, you'd probably look good in a little twirly dress once in a while.

Oh Rocky P... it would be a hoot and probably worth recording, just for the humor factor!
