Is anyone thinking of passing this along to your deposit customers? Would you do it based on amount on deposit or just hit all accounts equally. Could you charge your CD customers? We do not like the fact that we will pay out over 10% of our estimated pre-tax earnings for the year and there may be another special assessment later this year.

I don't know how banks are handling consumer accounts; however, our bank is being charged for FDIC assessment fees on our business accounts with other banks.

We are passing on the fee, but alot of customers are complaining and want to know if we can legally apply this fee to the customer.

I found that FDIC allows the passing on the fee as long as it is not in excess of actual cost. Here is the link to the advisory opinion: http://www.fdic.gov/regulations/laws/rules/4000-6290.html
