It came to our attention that a customer has been cashing his payroll checks against an account that has a restraining notice against it. We are thinking that by cashing his payroll checks allows him an “unlimited” exempted funds verses the limited exemption funds. He is screaming that its payroll and we have to cash his checks.... We are curious if other FIs allow customers to cash payroll checks ??

Not knowing what a restraining order entails or why it was put on the account (restraining orders usually apply to an individual) it is hard say whether doing so violates the restraining order. However, the bank is under no obligation to provide check cashing services to anyone - customer or not.,
