While performing my annual audit of HMDA LAR data, I have come across a loan that should be reported on the LAR. What do we report as date application received if there is no application ? Thanks.

How do you have an application without one??

I am sorry. I have an applciation. It is not dated.

I would look for other dates in the file that might support an application date, such as a credit report. And then counsel the loan officer involved to make sure there are no future occurrences such as this.

And document the heck out of the file so if it gets pulled for an exam you'll know what you did and why.
